Few months back, Sony was no different from HTC. This Japanese giant, who had a split with Sweden based Ericsson, was trying to recreate its own identity. Tech vendors like Samsung and Apple were making waves in the smartphone market. In 2012, Kazuo Hirai was appointed as a CEO of global conglomerate. The energetic Hirai announced "One Sony "plan and now we can see the results. Sony stormed smartphone market by announcing Xperia Z, Xperia SP and now the latest Xperia ZR. The makers behind PlayStation 4 have managed to dethrone its rivals in select markets, while HTC is still facing lot of difficulties to bring the company back on track.
Dimensions
Sony Xperia SP - 130.6 x 67.1 x 10 mm
HTC Desire 600 - 134.8 x 67 x 9.26mm
Display
The Xperia SP has a large 4.6-inch TFT display having resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. While the Desire 600 packs a 4.5-inch qHD Super LCD2 display with 960 x 540 pixels. In technical terms, a display having 720p HD resolution is comparatively better than quarter High-definition display. But the devices need to be tested in order to understand the viewing angles and color tones.
Processor
Sony went for 1.7GHz dual-core processor powered by Qualcomm MSM8960T Snapdragon processor. The HTC Desire 600, on the other hand, is stuffed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. It's a quad-core processor, 1.2GHz. Both handsets have same sized 1GB of RAM and 8GB ROM. And yes, these handsets are expandable via microSD card.
Operating system (0S)
It is an important factor, if a phone supports latest updated version of Android. The HTC Desire 600 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with HTC's new Sense 5.0 layer on the top. The new UI brings BlinkFeed to the table. It's a new way to perceive your environment. The Xperia SP also comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Sony uses its own layer on the top of OS i.e. Xperia UI. We haven't seen any drastic changes in the Xperia UI. Being manufactured by Sony, the only added advantage with Xperia SP is that the device is pre-loaded with all company branded services.
Camera
Sony owns Cyber-shot brand, which is known for being the best in the imaging business. On the other hand, HTC phones are known for great camera. Both HTC Desire 600 and the Sony Xperia SP come with an 8-mega pixel rear shooter on the back. The Xperia SP has an 8MP camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash. It supports superior Auto mode and you also get HDR feature too. Same can be said about HTC Desire 600.
